Description: download and cache datasets for Python applications
DataCache is a Python library for downloading datasets and reusing local
copies across runs. It supports streaming and resumable downloads,
automatic retries, checksum and size verification, and offline cache
 inspection.
 .
It also provides gzip and ZIP decompression, tar archive extraction,
versioned dataset bundles, and SQLite caches built from CSV files or
pandas DataFrames. Bundles and derived datasets can be validated before
publication, preserving previously cached data if an update fails.
 .
This package is used to keep large external data sets in sync with
local representations. This may imply also the update of local databases
when the external data is presented as a textual format ("flat files"),
a mostly human-readable format that one could open as a spreadsheet
and equally easy parse and index or reimport into a local database.
